Last November, Fix8 Media hosted its debut Squarespace Website Giveaway, in which we offered up a free Squarespace site build to one deserving recipient. After combing dozens of entries, we chose Debbie’s Treasure Chest in Lawrence, Massachusetts, as our winner.
Operated by Harvey Girls Inc., a nonprofit public charity, Debbie’s Treasure Chest helps at-risk children through cash and in-kind donations. It was started in 2007 by three children—Talia (age 8), Maxine (age 11), and Anna (age 12)—who were adopted into loving families and wanted to give back to their community. The charity is named after the girls’ social worker, Debbie D’Iorio, who passed away in 2006. She taught them that every child matters.
“When Talia submitted her application to receive a free professionally designed website for Debbie’s Treasure Chest, we never expected that our non-profit would have been chosen,” said Linda Harvey, mom to Talia, Maxine, and Anna. “We had been struggling for years to find someone to help us ‘up our presence on the web,’ but we could never afford the quality design we needed.”
The Debbie’s Treasure Chest team experienced the same collaborative design and development process of any Fix8 client, and the results have paid off—big time.
“We are convinced that our new website is one of the reasons that we were the recipients of a $100,000.00 grant—our very first grant—from the Cummings Foundations of Massachusetts,” said Harvey. “We are forever grateful to Fix8 Media for helping us achieve our goals of helping children and families at risk.”
